A Nightmare on Elm
Street opening 15 minute analysis
James Brammer
This is very
similar to how we are going to show our film title and at this point in the
film; there is a scream, which we are also going to have in our film. However
the eerie dream like music in this film will be replaced by something a little
more sinister. However this film was made in 1984 so due to technological advances we would be able to do this to a greater effect.
These next 2
shots show the chase scene with a shaky camera and the main character waking up
very frightened. Both of these are similar to our film with the way they are
filmed and how the music portrays the action within the shots.
This shot
shows the main character with her friends, which is the same as what we are doing.
In this
shot, you see the main character putting on a brave face in front of her
friends whilst she is still contemplating what her dream meant and she is
certain that nothing good can come of it. As the eerie music starts playing in
the background, her friend to the left confesses that she also had a dream
about the same ‘creep’ on the same night. This unsettles her further as she now
has proof that something bad is going to happen.
